About the Role
HLTAs at Compass Community Schools support children with complex and challenging behaviours, providing close attention, communication, consistency and flexibility. They work closely with teachers, parents, local authority teams and other professionals to secure outstanding outcomes for each child.
Responsibilities
- Support teachers in the classroom.
- Work with children 1:1 or in small groups.
- Manage classroom resources, organise trips and visits.
- Provide appropriate emotional support and ensure children’s safety.
- Participate in therapy sessions and reflect on challenging periods.
- Collaborate with the academic curriculum and extra‑curricular planning.

All staff will undergo Enhanced DBS or Enhanced check and social media due‑diligence checks. Staff must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity and follow the Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.
