Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a growing team delivering mechanical installation and maintenance works across Thames Water sites.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on long‑term clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects for a well‑established contractor with a strong pipeline of work throughout the Thames Water region.

The Role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for carrying out mechanical installation, maintenance and refurbishment works on a range of water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation of pumps, motors, valves and associated mechanical equipment
  • Installation and modification of process pipework and mechanical systems
  • Mechanical maintenance and refurbishment works on existing assets
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
  • Working safely within operational water treatment environments
  • Carrying out inspections, testing and commissioning support activities
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with site procedures and health & safety requirements
  • Liaising with site supervisors, project teams and operational personnel

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter within the water, utilities, industrial or process sectors
  • CSCS Card (Essential)
  • Thames Water Passport (Highly Desirable)
  • Experience working on Water Treatment Works (WTW) or Sewage Treatment Works (STW) preferred
  • Ability to work from technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong understanding of pumps, valves, pipework and mechanical equipment
  • Full UK Driving Licence preferred

  • Confined Space Training
  • IPAF
  • PASMA
  • Mechanical Engineering Qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds or Apprenticeship)
