We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a growing team delivering mechanical installation and maintenance works across Thames Water sites.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on long‑term clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects for a well‑established contractor with a strong pipeline of work throughout the Thames Water region.
The Role
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for carrying out mechanical installation, maintenance and refurbishment works on a range of water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation of pumps, motors, valves and associated mechanical equipment
- Installation and modification of process pipework and mechanical systems
- Mechanical maintenance and refurbishment works on existing assets
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Working safely within operational water treatment environments
- Carrying out inspections, testing and commissioning support activities
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with site procedures and health & safety requirements
- Liaising with site supervisors, project teams and operational personnel
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter within the water, utilities, industrial or process sectors
- CSCS Card (Essential)
- Thames Water Passport (Highly Desirable)
- Experience working on Water Treatment Works (WTW) or Sewage Treatment Works (STW) preferred
- Ability to work from technical drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of pumps, valves, pipework and mechanical equipment
- Full UK Driving Licence preferred
