TSR Legal are currently working in partnership with a well‑established, client‑focused law firm based in Cardiff, who are seeking a Receptionist / Conveyancing Legal Assistant to join their residential property team. This is a varied dual role combining front‑of‑house reception duties with direct support to a fee earner within conveyancing. It is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in conveyancing support who is also confident in a client‑facing environment.

About the Role

This is a dual‑position role where you will be responsible for managing reception duties as well as providing dedicated administrative and legal support to a fee earner within the residential conveyancing department. You will play a key part in ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations, delivering excellent client service at reception while also assisting with the progression of conveyancing files from instruction through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Reception Duties

  • Acting as the first point of contact for clients, visitors, and external parties
  • Answering and directing incoming calls in a professional manner
  • Managing meeting room bookings and general front‑of‑house duties
  • Handling incoming and outgoing post and email correspondence
  • Providing a welcoming and professional client experience at all times

Conveyancing Legal Assistant Duties

  • Supporting a fee earner with the day‑to‑day management of residential conveyancing files
  • Assisting with sales, purchases, remortgages, and transfers of equity
  • Preparing and drafting legal documents, contracts, and completion statements
  • Carrying out Land Registry and property searches
  • Managing post‑completion work including SDLT submissions and Land Registry applications
  • Opening and closing files in line with compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Providing general administrative support to the fee earner and wider team

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience in a conveyancing support or legal administration role (essential)
  • Confidence in a client‑facing or reception‑based environment
  • Strong understanding of the conveyancing process and terminology
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional telephone manner
  • Strong IT skills and experience using case management systems
  • A proactive, organised approach with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities effectively
