Assistant Manager – Crawley

39 hours per week. Salary £30,000-£40,000 per year.

As an Assistant Manager at Hobbycraft, you control all aspects of the Store Operation and performance within the store. As a valued member of the Leadership team in one of our Flagship Stores, you will work alongside the Store Manager to deliver a truly customer-focused experience and will excel at building and developing efficient, effective, high-performing teams through living our brand values. In the absence of the Store Manager, you will be accountable for the running of the store.

  • Inspirational leadership – lead by example, recognise the team’s hard work, and drive outstanding customer service.
  • Brand ambassador – passion for the Hobbycraft brand, recognising and embracing change positively, living our values and ensuring the team shares them.
  • Planner – ensure the store is prepared for a successful day of trade.
  • Relationship builder – treat everyone fairly with dignity and respect, and support a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
  • Merchandiser – coordinate deliveries, range reviews and promotional set‑ups, manage manual handling.
  • Policy expert – enforce compliance with company policies and health and safety regulations, keeping the store safe and legal.
  • Communicator – deliver clear, concise communications such as key messages and daily targets.
  • Workshops – host various workshops in‑store and train colleagues on workshop delivery.
  • Store management – support day‑to‑day store operations, act as keyholder, manage opening and closing, alarm call‑outs, cash controls, PI counts, general admin, back‑of‑house access, colleague and data security compliance.
  • Recruitment – assist building a high‑performing team through recruitment, induction and training.
  • Colleague support – provide performance management, support and coaching for colleagues.

Experience

  • Supervisory experience – essential.
  • Deputy or Assistant Management experience – advantageous.
  • Passion for sales and profit driving.

Job Suitability

This role suits a current Assistant or Deputy Manager in a retail or similar environment, or an experienced Team Leader looking to progress on the management pathway.
