Bank Enabling Support Worker

Location: Children and Young Peoples Service

Salary: £12.75 per hour

Hours per week: Bank (part‑time only, full‑time hours not available)

Shift patterns: Weekday afternoons from 3 pm onwards, evenings and full days on weekends.

Role summary: Provide community based short break support for children with disabilities, working with parents/carers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help with daily routines such as meal times, personal care, bedtime.
  • Support community access: cinema, youth clubs, sports clubs, swimming, parks, beaches, etc.
  • Assist parents/carers with household tasks including meal preparation, laundry, general cleaning.
  • Plan activities and games (arts and crafts, reading, board games).
  • Help children learn new skills and increase independence (e.g., using bus, planning shopping trips, managing money).

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working with children with disabilities or special educational needs.
  • Experience as a support worker, childcare worker or teaching assistant.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • Passion for working with children and families.
  • Active, adaptable and enjoys varied environments.
  • Fun, friendly and warm personality.
  • Motivated to develop and progress career.
  • Committed to making a difference in the lives of children and young people with disabilities.
