About the role
Adult Services sits within the People Directorate at West Northamptonshire Council and supports adults across a range of needs, including community support, learning disability services, hospital discharge, and transitions into adulthood. The focus is on enabling people to live independently, stay safe and achieve the best possible outcomes.
As a front‑line Adult Social Care Worker you will work directly with individuals, families, partner organisations and assess needs, develop support plans and coordinate services. You manage your own caseload, respond to changing circumstances including crisis situations and ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met.
What you will do
You will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable adults to live safe, independent, and fulfilling lives. You will use a person‑centred, strengths‑based approach, co‑produce meaningful support plans and improve outcomes. The role includes:
- Carrying out person‑centred assessments and making support plans, including risk assessments.
- Managing a caseload, prioritising work effectively to support individuals, reducing risk and promoting stability.
- Connecting people to relevant community resources and services to promote independence and wellbeing.
- Identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns and escalating where necessary.
- Maintaining clear, accurate and up‑to‑date records using digital systems.
About you
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people and wants to make a real difference. You will have:
- Strong communication skills, including clear report writing.
- Ability to build working relationships with individuals, families, and professionals.
- Knowledge or experience of adult social care and key legislation (e.g. Care Act, Mental Capacity Act).
- Ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks, and work independently.
- Able to assess risk and make decisions based on a risk‑based approach.
- Experience working in multi‑agency environments.
- Confident using IT systems (e.g. Office 365) and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to analyse situations and take appropriate action, including in challenging circumstances.
Desirable
- Experience working with adults with learning disabilities.
- Experience delivering social care outcomes using a strengths‑based approach.
Other requirements
- Relevant qualification (degree, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent experience).
- Ability to travel for work (driving required).
