Epilepsy Support Worker – Cardiff – Weekends
Hours: Weekends (Sat and Sun) – 8:00–16:00 or 8:00– 21:00
The individual we support is verbal and mobile; he requires two‑to‑one support due to seizures.
Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide high‑quality care and assistance to a young man who lives at home with his parents. The role involves supporting him with daily activities, ensuring his safety, and promoting well‑being. Candidates with experience as a support worker or care assistant are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities
- Assist with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing and mobility.
- Support medication administration following prescribed guidelines.
- Engage the client in social activities such as meals out, bowling, cinema, swimming and shopping.
- Assist with light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Drive the mobility car to appointments or outings, ensuring safe transportation.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations using first aid skills when required.
- Document care activities accurately and report any changes in condition to relevant healthcare professionals, including seizures and mood.
Skills
- Experience as a support worker or care assistant.
- Strong patient care skills with knowledge of epilepsy.
- Proficient in medication administration and first aid procedures.
- Excellent behaviour management abilities and compassionate communication skills.
- Valid driving licence for transportation duties (advantageous).
- Reliable and organised with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to different care needs and environments.
