Children’s Support Worker
Location: Athena, Lewisham
Salary: £29,701.36 per annum
Contract type: Full‑time, Fixed term (1 year)
Hours: 37.5 per week
Role Overview
We are recruiting for a Children Support Worker to join our team in Lewisham. The Athena service delivers specialist support to women and children experiencing domestic abuse. As a Children’s Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting children to recover, build resilience, and feel safe in a nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse
- Deliver age‑appropriate one‑to‑one and group support sessions
- Support children’s emotional wellbeing, safety, and development
- Work closely with mothers to support positive parenting and family relationships
- Develop and implement support and safety plans tailored to individual needs
- Liaise with external agencies including schools, social services, and health professionals
- Maintain accurate, confidential case records and reports
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and child‑centred environment within the refuge
