The Live-in Carer is responsible for providing high-quality, person-centred care and continuous support to an individual within their own home environment. Also, promote the clients physical, emotional, and psychological well-being while enabling them to maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

1. Personal Care: Assist with personal care and promote client independence.

2. Daily Living Support: Support with meals, mobility, and household tasks as outlined in the care plan.

3. Medication Support: Administer or support medication and maintain records.

4. Emotional & Social Support: Offer companionship, emotional support, and encourage clients social and recreational engagement.

5. Mobility and Transport Assistance: Supporting the client with safe movement within the home and accompanying them to appointments, social activities, or errands when required.

6. Record-Keeping & Reporting: Maintain care records, report health changes promptly, and adhere to organisational policies and safeguarding standards.

7. Professional Conduct: Demonstrate professionalism and respect, uphold data protection, and participate in ongoing training. Attend mandatory training and participate in professional development.

Qualifications

  • DBS clearance required
  • No prior experience required full training will be provided
  • Candidates must have a full UK driving licence and reliable vehicle access
  • Proven experience in providing compassionate, person-centred care to individuals living with dementia.
  • Must be able to live on-site and provide consistent care in accordance with agreed working patterns, demonstrating flexibility to meet the needs of the client.

  • Consent & Capacity: Respect choices; follow Mental Capacity Act 2005 & DoLS.
  • Confidentiality: Protect client information. (GDPR & Data Protection Act 2018)
  • Equality & Rights: Treat everyone fairly and with dignity. (Equality Act 2010, Human Rights Act 1998)
  • Health & Safety: Work safely; follow risk assessments, infection control, and manual handling procedures.
  • Medicines: Administer safely and record accurately. (Medicines Act 1968 & Misuse of Drugs Act 1971)
  • Regulatory Compliance: Follow CQC Fundamental Standards and NICE guidelines.

A care worker is legally and ethically responsible for delivering safe, person-centred care in peoples homes through structured assessments, training, robust safeguarding, and by continuous quality monitoring.
