What you’ll be doing

The AV & Events Assistant is the behind‑the‑scenes magic‑maker bringing Hachette UK and HBG events to life — both on screen and in person. From producing unforgettable live events and author filmings to editing dynamic video content on DaVinci, Premiere Pro and After Effects, live‑streaming experiences, crafting eye‑catching marketing assets, sound design and delivering polished films, this role sits at the heart of creative storytelling.

Part producer, part creative technician, part problem‑solver, you’ll use professional AV expertise to turn ideas into engaging experiences that captivate audiences, support authors, and elevate the Hachette brand across every platform.

As important as the technical, strong people skills are just as essential to the role given the variety of different stakeholders you will work with.

Who we are looking for

  • Media/Film production qualifications and/or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience of using filming equipment such as DSLR cameras, gimbals, lights, stands and more.
  • Proficient in the use of editing software’s, such as DaVinci, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom and more, with a clear knowledge of colour grading, graphic animations and completing content confidently.
  • Proven track record of delivering multimedia production, including in‑person, online and hybrid events, such as OBS. Along with the use of PA and streaming equipment.
  • Strong people skills, a clear communicator and confident liaising with multiple stakeholders.
  • Able to work in a fast‑paced environment while multitasking and prioritising simultaneous projects.
  • Experience and/or skills in administrative organisation or production.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Highly organised, efficient and self‑starting.
  • Happy to work evenings and come into the office 4‑5 times a week.
