Teaching Assistant – Pontefract

Justteachers is seeking a motivated and supportive Secondary Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner schools in Pontefract. This is a full-time role, starting as soon as possible, with the exciting opportunity to secure a permanent position with the school after a successful 3-month qualifying period.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support learning across a range of subjects, providing tailored assistance to pupils to help them engage, progress and achieve their best.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support pupils in lessons, both one-to-one and in small groups.
• Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging learning activities.
• Provide classroom support to help manage behaviour and encourage participation.
• Adapt support to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities, including those with SEND.
• Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Pre-requisites:

• Experience supporting pupils in a secondary school setting (desirable but not essential).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Adaptability, patience and enthusiasm for supporting learning.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
