Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Primary

Location: Haringey, North London

Pay: £110 – £150 per day

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time, Long-term (potential for permanent)

About the Role

Vocational Recruitment is working in partnership with a well-regarded 2 form entry primary school in Haringey to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant for a full-time role starting in September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled HLTA to work across the primary phase, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs while working closely with teaching staff, SEND professionals, and families. The successful candidate will be confident delivering interventions, leading small group sessions, and providing classroom cover where required.

The school is seeking a proactive and compassionate HLTA with strong SEND experience and the ability to build positive relationships with both children and their families. You will play a key role in supporting pupil progress, wellbeing, and inclusion across the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work across the primary phase supporting pupils with varying needs
  • Provide targeted support for pupils with SEND through interventions and in-class support
  • Deliver planned learning activities to individuals and small groups
  • Provide classroom cover when required
  • Support teachers in promoting pupil progress and engagement
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and external professionals
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to support plans
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Support the school’s inclusive approach to learning and development
  • Ensure safeguarding and pupil welfare remain a priority at all times

Requirements

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience working within a primary school setting
  • Strong SEND experience is essential
  • Experience supporting children with a range of additional needs
  • Confidence working with parents and families to support pupil outcomes
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A flexible, positive, and proactive approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
