Court of Protection Paralegal – South London

Salary: £33,000

Permanent | Full‑time

The Firm

A well‑established, highly respected London law firm with a strong national reputation is seeking a Court of Protection Paralegal to join its specialist team. The firm is known for delivering exceptional client care, high‑quality legal services, and for investing in the development and progression of its people.

The Role

You will support a busy Court of Protection team made up of partners, solicitors and fellow paralegals. This is a hands‑on role offering exposure to complex and meaningful work, supporting vulnerable clients and helping to manage their personal and financial affairs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing administrative and legal support across the team
  • Assisting with supervised legal advice and taking clear, accurate notes in client meetings
  • Visiting clients in hospitals, care homes and private residences
  • Managing regular client payments, maintaining accurate financial schedules, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting
  • Acting as a day‑to‑day point of contact for clients and their representatives
  • Handling correspondence professionally and confidentially with clients, solicitors and third parties
  • Delegating and overseeing tasks where appropriate
  • Producing clear, plain‑English letters, statements, court applications and other legal documents
  • Ensuring all work meets the firm’s client care and compliance standards
  • Continuing to develop your legal knowledge and skills

Person Specification

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Confident using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, flexible approach with a positive, “can‑do” attitude
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Comfortable working with figures and financial information
  • Professional, empathetic and client‑focused

Qualifications

  • Law degree preferred
  • Previous Court of Protection experience is desirable but not essential, but you will have to explain why you would want this department
