Group Finance Manager – Manchester City Centre

Sowena Group are delighted to be partnering once again with a leading, private equity-backed business based in Manchester City Centre to recruit a Group Finance Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the organisation at a pivotal stage in its growth journey, with ambitious plans to expand both organically and through acquisitions. The business is widely recognised as a great place to work and offers a flexible hybrid working model, typically requiring just 1–2 days per week in the office.

The Role

As Group Finance Manager, you will play a key role in strengthening accounting practices across the Group. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, leading complex consolidations, and delivering high-quality financial insights to support strategic decision-making.

This role is ideally suited to a candidate from an audit background with group finance experience who is looking to step into, or further develop within, a fast-paced, private equity-backed environment.

The business operates

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the consolidation of financial statements across a multi-currency group
  • Provide guidance to regional finance teams on accounting standards and their application
  • Support the transition of group reporting from UK GAAP to IFRS
  • Produce monthly and quarterly management packs, focusing on cash flow, balance sheet, capex, and exceptional items
  • Prepare annual statutory financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal controls
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insight and support strategic initiatives
  • Act as a key contact for external auditors and support the audit process

Experience & Skills

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA or ACA strongly preferred)
  • Proven experience in group financial accounting or a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of multi-currency consolidations under UK GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
  • Experience in a private equity-backed or high-growth business is advantageous but not essential
