About the Role
Horizon Care and Education is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at Great Howarth School, an independent specialist day school based in Rochdale. The school provides education for boys and girls aged 7‑18 with a range of complex needs, including Speech, Language & Communication Needs, Social, Emotional and Mental Health, ADHD and Autism.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting students in their educational and social development.
- Providing support inside and outside of the classroom to enable full engagement in a wide range of activities.
- Helping to set up activities for students, using technology or adjusting the environment to suit their needs.
- Supporting teachers, engaging with students, providing learning support, and reacting to situations in the classroom in a positive, non‑disruptive manner.
- Working 1:1 with some students to give them the time and support they need to learn.
Required Qualifications
- Experience of working with children who have behavioural support needs and a good knowledge of behavioural management techniques and strategies.
- Grade C or above GCSE in English and Maths, or Level 1/2 equivalent functional skills qualification.
- Hold or be willing to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification.
