Location: London (Hybrid – 2 days per week West London office)
Our client is a major player in the card payments industry, seeking an experienced B2B Events Manager to take ownership of a strategic events programme across the payments ecosystem.
This is a newly created role, established to bring focus, rigour, and commercial impact to events that have previously sat within wider marketing responsibilities. The successful candidate will lead the strategy, planning, and delivery of high-impact industry events that drive brand visibility, lead generation, and measurable business outcomes.
The contract is initially 12 months, with a strong preference for candidates seeking long-term contract opportunities and continuity with the business.
The Role
You will own the end-to-end delivery of a diverse B2B events portfolio, including:
- Industry conferences and trade shows
- Sponsored and partnered events
- Roundtables and customer forums
- Webinars and industry association events
The role balances strategic planning with hands-on execution, ensuring events are commercially aligned, professionally delivered, and continuously optimised based on performance.
Key Responsibilities
Event Strategy & Planning
- Develop and manage an annual B2B events calendar aligned to commercial priorities, product launches, and brand objectives.
- Conduct pre-event evaluation to assess business value, target audiences, and level of participation (sponsorship, exhibiting, speaking, or attendance).
- Define event KPIs including lead generation, pipeline impact, brand visibility, partner engagement, and ROI.
- Work with industry associations, merchants, acquirers, and partners to design targeted, high-value events.
Execution & Delivery
- Lead end-to-end event delivery: venue sourcing, logistics, budgets, speakers, agencies, branding, travel, and event technology.
- Deliver consistent, high-quality branded experiences across all touchpoints.
- Manage onsite delivery including stand build, staffing, partner engagement, lead capture, and post-event debriefs.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner closely with marketing, sales, partnerships, communications, and product teams to align objectives and messaging.
- Support senior executives with speaking opportunities, briefing packs, and industry positioning.
- Build strong relationships with event organisers, agencies, suppliers, and sponsorship partners.
Marketing, Reporting & Optimisation
- Collaborate with marketing on event promotion (email campaigns, landing pages, social, and sales enablement).
- Own post-event reporting, lead handover, and performance analysis.
- Retrospectively review event outcomes to identify which events generate the strongest leads and commercial return, refining future strategy accordingly.
Budget Ownership
- Own and manage event budgets, negotiate contracts, and ensure cost efficiency.
- Track spend against performance and deliver clear ROI reporting to stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience managing B2B events, ideally within payments, fintech, financial services, or technology.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
- Commercial mindset with experience working alongside sales and senior stakeholders.
- Confident negotiator with vendors, agencies, and event partners.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Understanding of the payments ecosystem, merchants, acquirers, and industry associations.
- Experience using CRM and event platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Cvent, Eventbrite).
- Experience supporting executive thought-leadership and speaking engagements.
