PURPOSE

To provide a safe and secure transport service for vulnerable adults and children in a dignified manner. VCare24 offers a bespoke service to our clients to meet each individual’s requirements. Our secure transport service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and operates nationwide.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • To promote and safeguard the welfare of young people and/or vulnerable adults.
  • Statutory obligations as per CQC, Regulations, Quality Standards, Health and Social Care Act 2008, OFSTED, Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Must comply and follow VCare24’s Policies and Procedures at all times.
  • Must understand, record and utilise the computerised and manual filing systems (e.g., Halo, Microsoft).
  • Must be available for transport duties in accordance with the assigned shift pattern:
    • 2‑on, 3‑off shift pattern – Staff must reside within 30 minutes of their designated place of work.
    • 4‑day, 10‑hour shift pattern – Four 10‑hour days per week with varying start and end times that rotate weekly.
  • Provide a safe and dignified transport service to all individuals in need of conveyance. Service includes:
    • Transporting patients under the Mental Health Act 1983
    • Placement transfers/supervised contacts
    • Transport of young people with a high risk of absconding, violent or aggressive behaviour
    • Court appearances
    • Transport of informal patients
    • Transport of dementia and older patients
  • Provide accurate information and maintain up‑to‑date, accurate and quality data for client feedback.
  • Ensure all vehicle safety checks are undertaken prior to conveyance and documented.
  • Be aware of and participate in personal development by attending and contributing to staff meetings, supervision sessions, training courses and other departmental forums.
  • Refer to line management/safeguarding officer upon any concerns, suspicions, evidence or allegations in relation to child protection in accordance with Children and vulnerable adults Safeguarding Board guidelines.
  • Be flexible to ensure the operational needs of VCare24 are met, including duties of a similar nature and responsibility across various workplaces.
  • Maintain confidentiality within the workplace and ensure all sensitive information is stored correctly (e.g., locked cabinets, password protection, security bags).
  • The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and associated legislation places responsibilities for health and safety on VCare24 (employer) and on you (employee). The post holder has personal responsibility for own health and safety and that of other employees.

GENERAL

  • All staff will be offered a 40‑hour per week contract.
  • All staff will be assigned a shift pattern as outlined above.
  • Any overtime will be paid additionally.
  • All staff will attend a full 10‑day induction training regime covering practical and theoretical work.
  • All staff must hold a full driving licence.
  • All staff must be over the age of 21 (for insurance purposes).
  • All staff must have no more than 3 points on their licence.
  • A full Enhanced DBS will be completed.
