Role Overview

Support Workers will provide person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities, ensuring their wellbeing, dignity, and independence. The role includes assisting with personal care, medication, and daily activities, as well as supporting social and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver person-centred support in line with individual care plans
  • Assist with daily activities, including medication administration and personal hygiene
  • Support individuals with communication needs (verbal, non-verbal, and digital aids)
  • Encourage independence while providing help when required
  • Maintain open communication with families, colleagues, and the wider care network
  • Accompany individuals to activities such as walks, gym sessions, swimming, and outings
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance, respecting routines and preferences

Required Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Nurturing, supportive, and patient approach
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and non-verbal)
  • Flexibility to work varied shift patterns, including alternate weekends
  • Full UK driving licence (manual or automatic)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Desirable

  • Previous experience in social care (training provided for new staff)
