We have recently partnered with a growing, privately backed group operating in the membership and hospitality space with multiple established locations.
The culture is entrepreneurial but operationally complex – think leases, refurbishments, membership systems, and F&B. The business is currently transitioning from a smaller, founder‑led mindset to a more professionally run finance function.
The business needs a commercially savvy finance professional – someone who can sit between the FD and the operational teams, driving value through business partnering, FP&A, and strategic projects.
This is not a pure control role. The successful candidate will:
- Create commercial rigour across all business partnering and deliver a best‑in‑class finance function
- Review and rebuild all reporting – moving from historical accounts to forward-looking FP&A
- Lead refinancing workstreams and manage relationships with banks and PE
- Take ownership of lease accounting, property deal analysis, and new site setups
- Oversee the technology function (currently no tech strategy – just IT services) as it develops
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
- Partner with the operations, sales, and marketing teams to drive revenue and margin across membership, F&B, and events
- Provide commercial analysis on new site openings
- Lead the financial modelling for leases, refurbishments, and capex decisions
- Support the sales and marketing team
FP&A & Reporting
- Review all existing financial reporting and rebuild a suite of management accounts, dashboards, and KPIs (membership churn, utilisation, F&B margins, etc.)
- Create a robust budgeting and forecasting process, including rolling forecasts
- Develop a clear FP&A calendar and own the monthly performance pack for the FD and investors
Strategic Projects
- Lead refinancing workstreams, managing lender relationships and PE reporting
- Assist with deal structuring and investor communications
- Once the three existing houses are stabilised and Kensington is open, help set up commercial deals and joint ventures as needed
- Act as the finance owner for key systems
- Work with the IT services provider to define a longer‑term tech strategy (the business currently has no dedicated tech function – this role would help shape what is needed)
- Work alongside the wider finance team – not to duplicate but to add commercial firepower
- Deputise for the FD when required
- Potentially take responsibility for tech as a direct report if the function grows
Qualifications
- Commercial finance experience – has worked in a multisite membership, hospitality, or office/workspace group (e.g., flexible office providers, private members’ clubs, boutique hotel groups).
- Strong FP&A background – comfortable building reporting from scratch, not just maintaining existing packs.
- Lease and property expertise – understands IFRS 16, rent reviews, break clauses, and capex vs opex decisions.
- Bank and PE relationship management – has worked with lenders and private equity investors, ideally on refinancing or covenant reporting.
- Systems‑capable – can get under the hood of membership, booking, and ERP systems; not afraid of a messy data environment.
- Self‑starting and resilient – comfortable with ambiguity, restructuring, and a role that is still being defined.
What the Role Offers
- A genuinely commercial seat at the table – not just reporting, but driving value
- Exposure to PE and banking relationships
- The chance to build a finance function from a strong operational base
- LTIP potential (scheme to be formalised)
- A down‑to‑earth, non‑corporate culture with a focus on delivery
