BCL Legal is delighted to be working with a leading international law firm seeking to recruit a Senior or Principal Associate into its highly regarded Commercial Development & Investment team in Birmingham. This is a standout opportunity to work on major, high‑profile development projects as part of one of the UK’s largest and most respected real‑estate practices.
The Opportunity
You will join a specialist Commercial Development & Investment team, working on complex, large‑scale development schemes alongside experienced Partners and multidisciplinary teams. The role offers a broad mix of development, investment and general commercial property work.
Responsibilities
- Advising on major, multi‑disciplinary development projects across the UK
- Drafting and negotiating development agreements, joint ventures and collaboration agreements
- Handling options, promotion agreements and complex site assembly matters
- Advising on funding arrangements and disposals within development projects
- Assisting with acquisitions and disposals of investment assets
- Managing lettings, pre‑lettings and asset management work
- Supporting on general commercial property transactions
- Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers
- Contributing to business development and client relationship management
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- 5+ PQE with strong experience in commercial real estate, ideally with a focus on development and investment
- Technically strong, with experience working on complex or large‑scale transactions
- Confident managing their own caseload and meeting tight deadlines
- Experienced in drafting and negotiating bespoke agreements
- Comfortable supervising and mentoring junior team members
- A strong communicator with a collaborative and proactive approach
- Commercially astute, with the ability to deliver practical, solutions‑focused advice
- Interested in building client relationships and contributing to business development
