Birmingham City Council is looking for committed, caring and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Community Care Assistants. This is a rewarding opportunity to support individuals to live as independently as possible, promoting dignity, choice and wellbeing in a supportive environment.
About The Role
As a Community Care Assistant, you will be part of a dedicated team providing high-quality care and support to individuals. You will spend much of your time working directly with people, building positive relationships and enabling them to live fulfilling lives. This role requires compassion, patience and a practical approach, as well as a strong commitment to delivering person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key worker, contributing to care planning, assessment and review of individual needs
- Provide personal and emotional support, including listening, companionship and practical help
- Support individuals with daily activities such as shopping, correspondence and attending appointments
- Liaise with families, colleagues and other professionals involved in the individual’s care
- Provide physical and personal care where required, including assistance with washing, bathing and toileting
- Support and encourage participation in activities, hobbies and interestsHelp individuals maximise their independence and quality of life
- Carry out domestic tasks associated with care needs, such as bed making and maintaining a clean environment
Working Arrangements
- Weekend working and shift work may be required
- Bank holiday working may be required
- You may be required to work across different locations depending on service needs
