Shift Fitter

Overview

We are looking for a Vehicle Shift Fitter to join our Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire engineering team. You will work on a diverse fleet of modern buses and vehicles across our Carlisle depot, gaining hands‑on experience and development support.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair a wide variety of public service vehicles, including minibuses, double‑deckers, buses, HGVs, and light commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and electronic faults on both depot‑based and on‑road situations.
• Assist senior engineers, technicians and managers to keep our fleet in optimal condition for customer service.
• Participate in training programmes to become proficient on all vehicle types and technologies.

Qualifications

• Background in vehicle mechanical or electrical engineering (truck, haulage, automotive, plant, rail, farm).
• Experience with buses or similar decker/truck vehicles is an advantage but not mandatory.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a willingness to learn.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
