The opportunity
Working for the Global Jobs & Skills Architecture Lead, this role will continuously improve and maintain an enterprise-wide skills taxonomy and job architecture, working closely with senior business leaders, our Skills Management vendors, and Talent. The role will lead, design and deliver technology enablement of the job and skills architecture, including designing AI agents and prompt engineering to support review and manipulation of large datasets. It will consider how changes to skills and the job architecture will impact downstream processes such as recruitment, reward, learning, workforce planning and resource management, and will work across Talent functions at global and regional levels to ensure effective implementation.
Your Responsibilities
- Maintaining the global skills taxonomy at EY, ensuring it accurately reflects skills across the organization and is reflected in global technology platforms.
- Leading skills intelligence using analytics to show how skills attributes can support talent activities such as career development, resourcing, internal hiring and workforce planning.
- Identifying opportunities to implement agentic AI and other technologies to improve the development, maintenance and accessibility of the global skills taxonomy.
- Working closely with the wider skills transformation project team to communicate JSA requirements and embed these within new implementations.
- Reviewing the skills taxonomy and role/job architecture with required business leaders on an agreed governance cycle, ensuring downstream impacts are considered and managed.
- Building relationships with key personnel in the business to ensure the skills taxonomy includes essential skills for EY’s delivery.
- Anticipating skill gaps or new requirements and liaising with L&D Business Partners on learning solutions to address these gaps.
- Contributing to the Global Skills strategy for EY, working with Talent Strategy and Organization Effectiveness to bring visibility and knowledge of skills.
- Promoting the importance of skills to the EY organization and acting as a leading voice on skills and careers across the Talent function.
- Developing proposals for change to enhance Global skills solutions and the career experience at EY, with appropriate consultation and business case preparation.
Supervision Responsibilities
- Working to define and implement effective skills and career solutions as part of the Global L&D team.
- Providing expert guidance on leveraging AI and communicating JSA requirements.
- Working with Talent colleagues to analyze and recommend changes aligned to the Global Talent governance process.
- Driving continuous improvement of the skills taxonomy and job architecture using external best practices.
- Enabling the L&D and Talent teams to use skills as a consistent language across the ecosystem.
- Managing downstream impacts of changes in skills and/or roles with stakeholders.
- Fostering relationships with other Talent Function Leaders for consistency and alignment.
Skills and attributes for success
- Strong understanding of skills-based organizations and their contribution to high performance.
- Knowledge of AI, automation and agentic capabilities relevant to skills inference, tagging, governance and user experience within Talent and L&D contexts.
- Advanced understanding of skill structures, their relationship to knowledge and tasks, and how skills can improve employee experience and business success.
- Knowledge of EY Talent operations, its operating model and organizational structure.
- Deep knowledge of the L&D function service delivery model, processes, technology and roles, especially for Skills & Career solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills to identify issues and recommend change.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proactive, pragmatic, agile mindset to deliver global operations and enablement services under cost and time pressures.

- Ability to use Global Technology and other relevant HR systems and knowledge tools.

Job Requirements
Education:
- Degree level in a related discipline.
- Higher professional or Master’s qualification in a related discipline is preferred, not required.
Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in a related Talent or Consulting role considering skills strategy, solutions, and performance.
- Experience developing requirements, options and recommendations for technology‑enabled Talent solutions.
- Experience identifying, developing and deploying agentic AI at scale.
- Experience operating at a senior level, building and maintaining relationships with senior business and Talent leaders at global and regional levels.
- Experience managing a team to implement quality work at pace and resolving people issues.
- Experience assessing and scoping potential project/change initiatives and developing associated business cases.
- Experience thinking and acting strategically and commercially in pursuit of wider business objectives.
- Experience working in fast‑paced, demanding environments to deliver required results.
Certification Requirements
- Higher professional or Master’s qualification in a related discipline preferred, not required.
- Active membership to related professional bodies or industry groups preferred, not required.

- Comprehensive compensation and benefits package rewarding performance; base salary range for U.S. locations $96,300 to $180,100, with specific regional ranges.
- Hybrid work model: most external client‑serving roles work together in person 40‑60% of the time.
