Job Title: Pupil Support Worker / Teaching Assistant – Belmont Primary School, Rossendale
Location: Belmont Primary School, Rossendale, BB4 7LJ
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri)
Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Fixed term – 12 months, Term Time Only. Start: October 2026

About the Role
Dedicated Pupil Support Worker / Teaching Assistant to support students – many with autism and complex needs – to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the class teacher/tutor in delivering high-quality, engaging learning experiences for all students.
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to help students access the curriculum independently.
- Assist in creating a structured, stimulating classroom environment suited to students with autism and complex needs.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of individual plans, including IEPs, BSPs, risk assessments, and communication profiles.
- Prepare and produce learning materials and resources as directed by the class teacher/tutor.
- Support students during on-site and off-site activities, ensuring safety through effective planning and risk assessment.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-professional team, maintaining strong communication with education, care, and therapy staff.
- Promote students’ physical, emotional, social, and moral development in line with organisational values.
Qualifications and Experience
- GCSEs Grade 4/C or above required.
- Compassionate, patient, and committed to supporting young people with additional needs.
- Able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Confident in managing challenging behaviour with a calm, consistent approach.
- Organised, proactive, and able to follow guidance while using initiative.
- Willing to learn, develop, and adapt to meet students’ needs.
