The Advocate Group has partnered with a leading international consumer goods business to appoint a Commercial Director for its UK operation.

This is a rare opportunity to join a business with ambitious growth plans and take ownership of the UK commercial agenda across sales, marketing, customer development and strategic partnerships.

Reporting to the Country General Manager and sitting on the UK leadership team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping commercial strategy, driving sustainable revenue growth and building long-term market share.

We’re looking for a commercially astute leader who can combine strategic vision with hands-on execution, inspiring teams while delivering exceptional business performance.

The Role

As Commercial Director, you’ll be responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy for the UK business, ensuring sustainable growth, profitability and customer success.

You’ll lead both sales and marketing functions, working closely with internal and international stakeholders to identify new growth opportunities, strengthen customer partnerships and maximise commercial performance across multiple channels.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and delivering the UK commercial strategy.

• Driving profitable growth across retail, wholesale and eCommerce channels.

• Leading, coaching and developing high-performing sales and marketing teams.

• Identifying new market opportunities, revenue streams and strategic partnerships.

• Building and maintaining senior relationships with key customers and commercial partners.

• Leading commercial negotiations and customer agreements.

• Owning forecasting, budgeting and commercial performance management.

• Utilising consumer, category and market insights to shape future growth plans.

• Collaborating with international stakeholders to ensure alignment across markets and channels.

• Playing an active role within the senior leadership team, contributing to wider business strategy and decision making.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced commercial leader with a proven track record of driving growth within a consumer-focused environment.

You’ll bring:

• Significant experience in senior commercial, sales or general management leadership roles.

• A strong track record of delivering revenue growth, profitability improvement and market share gains.

• Experience leading both sales and marketing teams.

• Strong understanding of the UK retail landscape, including omnichannel and eCommerce environments.

• Exceptional customer relationship and negotiation skills.

• Experience developing and executing commercial growth strategies.

• Strong financial, analytical and strategic planning capabilities.

• The ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

• Experience within consumer goods, FMCG, consumer products, licensed brands, toys, gifting or related categories would be advantageous.
