We are seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented Finance Manager to take full ownership of the finance function. This is a pivotal role within the business, responsible for building, managing, and optimising all financial processes while providing clear, accurate insight into performance and cash flow.
As there is currently no in-house finance function, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape and establish best-in-class financial operations from the ground up. You will work closely with senior leadership and the operations team, acting as a trusted partner to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Leadership
- Take full ownership of the finance function end-to-end
- Design, implement, and continuously improve finance processes and controls
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial information
Systems & Xero (Essential)
- Own and manage Xero setup end-to-end, including chart of accounts, bank feeds, VAT, and reporting
- Maintain a clean, accurate, and up-to-date finance system
- Identify and resolve historical issues while implementing robust processes to prevent recurrence
Financial Operations
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations
Reporting & Insights
- Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Provide clear financial insights to support business performance and decision‑making
Cash Flow Management
- Actively manage and monitor cash flow
- Produce rolling cash flow forecasts
- Oversee deposits, prepayments, supplier commitments, and event‑related cash timing
- Ensure full visibility of the company’s financial position at all times
Invoicing, Credit Control & Payments
- Ensure accurate and timely client invoicing
- Manage collections and proactively reduce overdue balances
- Oversee supplier payments and approval processes
- Maintain strong control of aged receivables and payables
Tax, Compliance & External Relationships
- Ensure compliance with VAT, payroll taxes, and corporation tax requirements
- Manage relationships with external accountants and advisors
- Lead the year-end process and statutory reporting
About You
- Proven experience managing finance end-to-end within an SME environment
- Advanced, hands‑on experience with Xero (essential)
- AAT Level 3 qualified
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Confident working independently and taking full ownership
- Highly detail‑oriented with a commitment to accuracy
- Strong communicator, able to translate financial information for non‑finance stakeholders
