We are seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented Finance Manager to take full ownership of the finance function. This is a pivotal role within the business, responsible for building, managing, and optimising all financial processes while providing clear, accurate insight into performance and cash flow.

As there is currently no in-house finance function, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape and establish best-in-class financial operations from the ground up. You will work closely with senior leadership and the operations team, acting as a trusted partner to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Leadership

  • Take full ownership of the finance function end-to-end
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve finance processes and controls
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial information

Systems & Xero (Essential)

  • Own and manage Xero setup end-to-end, including chart of accounts, bank feeds, VAT, and reporting
  • Maintain a clean, accurate, and up-to-date finance system
  • Identify and resolve historical issues while implementing robust processes to prevent recurrence

Financial Operations

  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes
  • Maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations

Reporting & Insights

  • Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
  • Provide clear financial insights to support business performance and decision‑making

Cash Flow Management

  • Actively manage and monitor cash flow
  • Produce rolling cash flow forecasts
  • Oversee deposits, prepayments, supplier commitments, and event‑related cash timing
  • Ensure full visibility of the company’s financial position at all times

Invoicing, Credit Control & Payments

  • Ensure accurate and timely client invoicing
  • Manage collections and proactively reduce overdue balances
  • Oversee supplier payments and approval processes
  • Maintain strong control of aged receivables and payables

Tax, Compliance & External Relationships

  • Ensure compliance with VAT, payroll taxes, and corporation tax requirements
  • Manage relationships with external accountants and advisors
  • Lead the year-end process and statutory reporting

About You

  • Proven experience managing finance end-to-end within an SME environment
  • Advanced, hands‑on experience with Xero (essential)
  • AAT Level 3 qualified
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Confident working independently and taking full ownership
  • Highly detail‑oriented with a commitment to accuracy
  • Strong communicator, able to translate financial information for non‑finance stakeholders
