Sales Director
Hull | Executive Leadership Opportunity
Are you a commercially driven sales leader with experience within the timber, construction products or building materials sector?
We’re supporting a well-established and highly respected business with the appointment of a Sales Director to lead and develop its commercial function during an exciting phase of growth.
This is a key leadership role with responsibility for shaping and delivering the company’s sales strategy, driving revenue growth and developing long-term relationships with major customers across multiple sectors.
Reporting into the senior leadership team, you’ll take ownership of both internal and external sales functions, ensuring commercial objectives are achieved whilst fostering a high-performance culture throughout the business.
The Opportunity
This is far more than a traditional sales management role.
You’ll have the opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the business, work closely with operations and procurement teams, and play a significant role in future growth plans.
The successful candidate will inherit an established customer base, strong operational capabilities and a business with an excellent reputation within its market.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the overall commercial and sales strategy
- Lead, coach and develop internal and external sales teams
- Build relationships with key customers and strategic accounts
- Identify new market opportunities and drive business growth
- Work closely with operations, procurement and production teams to align customer demand with business capabilities
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and pricing strategies
- Improve sales processes, reporting and CRM utilisation
- Drive accountability, performance and continuous improvement across the commercial function
- Support the development of a positive, collaborative and results-focused culture
About You
We’re keen to speak with commercially minded leaders who have experience operating within timber, construction products, building materials or a related manufacturing environment.

You’ll be able to demonstrate:
- A proven track record of leading successful sales teams
- Experience managing strategic customer relationships and contract negotiations
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- The ability to develop and execute growth strategies
- Experience improving systems, processes and performance measures
- A hands-on leadership style with the ability to inspire and develop teams
