An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and motivated Healthcare Assistant to join the Community Services team at Surrey Downs Health & Care. This role offers the chance to make a real difference to patients by supporting the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred care within a community healthcare setting. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and dignified care while developing your skills within a supportive environment that values learning, teamwork, and continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

• Practice the Care Certificate and support junior staff to achieve the standards.
• Communicate with tact and empathy, overcoming barriers to understanding for patients with physical impairment, mental health conditions or learning disabilities.
• Assist with nursing care as instructed by the registered nursing staff, including patient toileting and elimination.
• Care for the patient’s personal clothing, property and valuables in accordance with relevant Trust policies.
• Assist with the moving and handling of patients and loads, using the correct aids and techniques, in accordance with Trust policy, local guidelines and risk assessments.
• Ensure that patient privacy and dignity are respected at all times and that nursing care is patient‑focused.
• Demonstrate an awareness of the importance of patient confidentiality and ensure a safe and secure environment at all times.
