Contract: Permanent. Hours per week: 36. Location: Frontier House, Merchants Quay, M50 3SR.
About the Role
You will be an integral and proactive member of the Finance Team, responsible for leading the financial operations function and team in a wide‑range and fast‑paced role. The role provides a comprehensive, high‑quality and professional financial transaction, control and advisory service across the College’s purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control, cash and banking, trips and visits administration, and oversees the outsourced payroll and pension service. You are expected to seek opportunities to improve systems and processes to enhance services to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Financial Operations team and deliver accurate, efficient and timely financial support service nationwide.
- Produce monthly closure and reconciliation processes.
- Liaise with external audit teams and manage the outsourced payroll and pension service.
- Advise on financial matters affecting the College.
- Drive forward system and process improvements; demonstrate a proactive can‑do attitude and commitment to change and innovation.
Qualifications
- CCAB (ICAEW/ACCA/CIPFA) or CIMA qualified, or qualified by experience.
- Significant, recent experience of providing transactional financial management service, ideally in education (FE, HE, MAT), public or third sector.
- Strong background in transactional accounting with proven financial management skills.
- Outstanding communication, organisational and managerial skills.
- Ability to lead a comprehensive transactional finance service and advise at senior level.
