The Appointment
We have been retained to appoint a senior development professional for a healthcare property business operating across the UK care home market.
The role carries responsibility for progressing care home development schemes from early-stage site review through to delivery. The sector is one where property decisions, operational requirements and long-term commercial performance are closely connected.
This well-established business is looking for someone with development judgement, technical credibility and the ability to manage risk properly across a scheme from inception to handover.
The Role
The successful candidate will work across the full development lifecycle, assessing, progressing and delivering new healthcare property development schemes.
- Reviewing and progressing development opportunities
- Working with planning consultants, architects, contractors and professional advisors
- Managing programme, budget and delivery risk across live schemes
- Site appraisal, scheme viability and pre-construction activity
- Liaison with operational stakeholders to ensure schemes work in practice
- Preparing clear reporting for senior leadership
- Maintaining oversight of external parties throughout the development process
- Identifying risk early and ensuring appropriate action is taken
These assets must be commercially viable, operationally suitable and built to support the demands of a regulated care environment.
The Candidate
Relevant experience is likely to include one or more of the following:
- Care home development
- Healthcare property
- Senior Living or Retirement Living
- Integrated retirement communities or Extra Care housing
- Specialist residential or healthcare construction
- Operationally led property development
We will also consider candidates from closely aligned sectors where there is a clear track record of progressing complex property schemes with operational end users.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
- Strong working knowledge of the UK development process
- Experience managing complex property schemes through to delivery
- Commercial discipline and sound judgement
- Credibility with senior stakeholders and external advisors
- A working understanding of planning, programme and delivery risk
- The ability to operate with appropriate autonomy at senior level
This may suit an experienced Senior Development Manager seeking a broader mandate, or an established Development Director looking for a focused role within healthcare property.
