Maintenance Operative

AASC – Wigan

Full time – 37.5 hours per week.

Salary – up to £30,000 depending on experience & skills, plus Serco benefits.

Full UK driving licence must be held. Vehicle and tools provided.

Here at Serco, we work with Asylum Accommodation and Support Services to assist individuals through the asylum system, which includes providing them with temporary accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all requested repairs, reactive or proactive, are carried out to the required standard and within SLA deadlines.
• Manage own workflow and work collaboratively with team when necessary.
• Maintain health & safety for yourself and all users of the property during and after works.
• Purchase and manage materials using company account card from approved suppliers.
• Inspect vehicles regularly and keep them in professional and clean condition.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance experience in joinery, fitting, plumbing, painting & decorating, or related field.
• Ability to manage own workflow and work as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness and ability to travel within the region and occasionally within the UK.

Flexible Working

• Mon to Fri 7.5 hours per day between 08:00 and 18:00 to meet operational needs.

On-Call Requirements

• Out of hours on‑call duties on a rota basis; covering 24/7 emergency cover as per contractual responsibilities.
• Duty will be carried out once every 8‑10 weeks for emergencies.
