Job Description:

Cruise Retail Academy is recruiting exceptional Onboard Hosts and Brand Storytellers for luxury cruise ships worldwide — people who can walk into a room of strangers and leave with a standing ovation.

This is not a traditional retail role. It is not a traditional hosting role either. It sits at the intersection of performance, sales, and guest experience — and it demands someone who is truly rare.

If you have the ability to build a crowd, hold attention, tell a compelling story, and inspire people to act — this opportunity was built for you.

Who We Are

Cruise Retail Academy is a specialist recruitment and talent partner placing exceptional people into world-class onboard roles across leading international cruise lines and global partners.

We don’t recruit for CVs alone. We recruit for presence, personality, and the kind of natural charisma that cannot be taught.

The Role

As an Onboard Host and Brand Storyteller, you will be the face of the guest experience — bringing destinations, brands, and onboard opportunities to life through live presentations, hosted events, and personalised guest engagement.

You will take to the stage. You will own your audience. You will make every guest feel informed, inspired, and excited about everything the voyage has to offer — onboard and ashore.

This is a role for someone who thrives in the spotlight, performs under pressure, and understands instinctively how to connect with people from every walk of life.

What You Will Do

On Stage & In the Room

  • Deliver captivating live presentations and hosted shows to large guest audiences in onboard theatre and lounge settings
  • Host destination showcases, shopping events, enrichment talks, and branded experiences throughout each voyage
  • Bring ports-of-call, local culture, and onboard opportunities to life through compelling, scripted and spontaneous storytelling
  • Engage guests personally at the end of every presentation — answering questions, building rapport, and guiding decisions

Guest Engagement & Experience

  • Maintain a warm, authoritative, and highly visible presence throughout the voyage — at events, at the gangway, and across guest-facing areas
  • Offer personalised one-on-one consultations covering destinations, shopping, shore excursions, local experiences, and onboard offerings
  • Build genuine connections with guests, anticipating needs and curating experiences that make their voyage truly memorable
  • Act as the go-to expert for ports-of-call — knowledgeable, confident, and always guest-first

Commercial Contribution

  • Support onboard and shoreside revenue goals through authentic, guest-led engagement and recommendations
  • Guide guests confidently through purchasing decisions — never with pressure, always with expertise and trust
  • Collaborate with onboard retail, excursions, and revenue teams to deliver a cohesive and commercially effective guest journey

Marketing & Event Management

  • Oversee all elements of event scheduling, promotion, and delivery across each voyage
  • Manage onboard marketing materials, digital screens, daily programme listings, and stateroom communications
  • Ensure all content — digital and print — is accurate, on-brand, and timed perfectly to each itinerary
  • Distribute destination guides and programme materials at the gangway and key guest touchpoints

Who You Are

You are a natural in front of an audience. You have presence that fills a room before you have said a word — and the warmth to make every individual guest feel like the conversation was just for them.

You may currently be or have experience as:

  • A cruise ship entertainer, auctioneer, or onboard presenter
  • A tour guide, destination specialist, or travel host
  • A TV, radio, or digital content presenter
  • A professional MC, event host, or public speaker
  • A brand ambassador or luxury lifestyle presenter
  • A performer, actor, or theatrical professional with commercial instincts
  • A trainer, educator, or enrichment specialist who loves an audience

What You Bring

  • Exceptional public speaking and live presentation skills — comfortable commanding large audiences
  • Natural storytelling ability — the power to educate, entertain, and inspire in equal measure
  • Sales confidence and commercial awareness — the ability to guide guests toward decisions without pressure
  • Outstanding interpersonal presence — warm, credible, approachable, and memorable
  • The ability to build a crowd, hold attention, and stick to a script while making it feel entirely spontaneous
  • Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced, multicultural shipboard environment
  • A genuine passion for travel, destinations, culture, and guest experience
  • Fluency in English — additional languages are a significant advantage
  • Readiness to commit to rotational contract-based work onboard international cruise ships

Prior cruise experience is an advantage — though presence, personality, and performance ability matter far more.

The Lifestyle Advantage

For the right person, this role offers far more than a job title.

Contracts typically run for six months and are structured to offer a genuine lifestyle and financial advantage:

  • Accommodation and all meals provided throughout your contract
  • The ability to save significantly while performing at the highest level

For performers and presenters who are ready to take their talent international, this is one of the most rewarding platforms in the world.

Specific contract details, compensation, and benefits vary by client and deployment and are always discussed openly during the process.

What to Expect

  • All recruitment and interviews are conducted remotely
  • Contracts are rotational and shipboard-based — typically six months in duration
  • Roles span multiple cruise lines and global itineraries across the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, Asia, Australia, and beyond
  • Both independent contractor and employed contract structures may be available depending on the client

What Happens Next

If this sounds like the stage you have been looking for, we would love to hear from you.

Apply with your CV or LinkedIn profile.

We will review every application personally. If there is strong alignment, we will be in touch to arrange an initial conversation.

This is not a one-off vacancy. It is an invitation to build a remarkable international career — one audience at a time.
