NOUNIFORM’s design team combines contemporary fashion expertise with in-depth knowledge of branding to create tailored uniform solutions. Notably, NOUNIFORM received the prestigious Restaurant and Bar Design Award in the ‘Identity’ category for their work on the Bob Bob Ricard uniform.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site position for a Women’s Wear Uniform Designer located in London. The role involves designing bespoke uniforms, completing detailed sketching and selecting appropriate textiles, researching fashion trends and client brands, and contributing to the uniform product development process. Tailoring, dress and soft separates key, working alongside the men’s wear designer. Collaboration with the production team and maintaining high-quality design standards are key responsibilities.

Research & Concept Development

  • Strategic Research: Conduct thorough research into brand identity, global fashion trends, fabrics, and specific functional requirements for each project to ensure all designs are contextually relevant and operationally sound.
  • Creative Translation: Translate initial design briefs and the Creative Director’s vision into elevated, commercially viable design proposals that integrate with the client’s interior design.
  • Concept Illustration: Produce high-quality sketches and digital fashion illustrations to clearly communicate design proposals for 5-star luxury clients.
  • Visual Presentations: Develop comprehensive digital moodboards and material boards that reflect the creative direction, including proposed colour palettes and fabric textures.

Technical Specification & Product Development

  • Technical Drawing: Produce accurate, flat, technical 2D CAD drawings (front and back) for all garment categories to support the Product Development (PD) process.
  • Construction Details: Provide precise garment construction specifications, including the exact placement of seams, darts, and hardware, to the PD team to ensure accurate sample and prototype development.
  • Operational Design: Ensure all designs balance high-end luxury aesthetics with “Commercial Viability” to ensure garments are functional for staff working 8-hour shifts.
  • Technical Quality: Maintain high technical standards to ensure all CADs are clean, accurate, and easily readable for factory production.

Sourcing & Studio Management

  • Fabric & Trim Sourcing: Conduct detailed research and sourcing for fabrics, trims, and bespoke accessories (including footwear) to meet project-specific requirements.
  • Sample Coordination: Maintain the design studio and sample library in a tidy, organised, and professional manner at all times.
  • Lookbook Production: In charge of the coordination and execution of lookbook photoshoots and campaign films to document new collections and bespoke client projects.

Communication & Presentation

  • Team Collaboration: Actively participate in design meetings, providing technical insights and creative solutions while working as a technical partner to the Creative Director.
  • Client Engagement: Confidently present concepts, illustrations, and technical ideas within the team and directly to clients when required.
  • Project Timelines: Manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines, ensuring all deliverables are met for fast-paced proposals.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Fashion Design, Sketching, and Concept Development
  • Knowledge of Fabric Selection, Textile Properties, and Color Theory
  • Use design suite, Adobe Suite, Ai knowledge. 
  • Strong attention to detail and expertise in Quality Assurance of finished garments
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with team members and clients
  • Knowledge of industry trends and an understanding of brand identity
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software and tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design
  • 5 years experience in design for luxury brands is highly desirable
  • Ability to work on-site in London and adapt to a fast-paced, high-stakes environment
  • Experience working with uniforms or similar functional yet bespoke designs is a plus
