Bury Employment Support and Training (Bury EST)
About the role
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated individual into a Support Assistant post at Bury Employment Support and Training (Bury EST). This is a fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively with a range of partners and stakeholders in generating income for the Bury EST service and developing income ideas to enable the service to continue to operate as a Trading Account.
Ideally the candidate will be able to provide the highest standards of professional and practical support to disabled and disadvantaged customers under the direction of the Bury EST Team Leader and Assistant Team Leader. The role involves developing an individual’s skills to reach their potential, whether this is employment or life skills/independence.
On a personal level, our ideal candidate will be a confident and assertive individual with excellent communication and inter‑personal skills. They will possess the knowledge and understanding of the social, physical and emotional needs of people and be able to provide evidence of their experience and skills in offering practical support.
Normal hours of work are 30 hours per week (Mon‑Fri 9.30am‑3.30pm).
Key responsibilities
- Generate income and develop income ideas for the Bury EST service.
- Provide professional and practical support to disabled and disadvantaged customers.
- Develop individuals’ skills to help them reach employment or life skills independence.
- Work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to ensure service continues as a trading account.
Qualifications and experience
- Confidence and assertiveness with excellent communication and inter‑personal skills.
- Experience or evidence of providing practical support to disabled or disadvantaged people.
- Strong knowledge of the social, physical, and emotional needs of such individuals.
