Senior Project Manager
A rapidly growing multidisciplinary consultancy delivering infrastructure solutions for projects across a variety of sectors – including rail, highways, utilities and aviation – has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join their team working on high‑profile schemes in the south, including a major railway station rebuild at Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, and developing and managing new and existing projects across the Anglia and East Midland Region.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrable experience working in an established project management environment, in consultancy, client or local‑authority settings.
- Strong background in Rail is essential; experience in Highways or other sectors is desirable.
- Strong understanding and experience of NEC contracts.
- Broad experience in multi‑disciplinary projects – e.g., new stations, footbridges, freight depots, car parks and feasibility studies.
- Experience in the early stages of project development, with proven competence in delivering projects on time, cost and quality.
- Experience building and managing regional teams to service existing and new clients.
- Business development expertise and a proven ability to develop clients and win new work.
- A degree in a relevant project management or engineering discipline (essential).
- Must be either a Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) or chartered with a relevant professional body such as ICE, IStructE or CIHT (essential).
- NEC accreditation (desirable).
Role and Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, monitor design, tender and supervise the implementation of projects to agreed targets, ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality.
- Act as principal client contact on all aspects of the project, maintaining effective relationships and responding urgently to any client concerns.
- Manage and proactively mitigate risks and obstacles to contractual performance and total project delivery, obtaining specialist third‑party support where necessary.
- Lead and direct the project team throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure regular and effective communication with clients and within the project team.
- Develop, complete and keep up‑to‑date project plans for health, safety, quality and environment, and manage risk assessments as required.
- Ensure projects comply fully with all statutory and regulatory provisions, including HMRI and CDM Regulations.
- Monitor work progress and compliance to specifications and standards, collating documentation and records.
- Ensure project costs are regularly reviewed and invoices are raised timely.
- Attend project and management review meetings.
- Provide wider support as required, including preparing fee estimates, bidding, resourcing programmes, undertaking site visits, managing Health & Safety paperwork and assisting in tender processes.
