Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Electrical Shift Engineer role based at the C&D Foods facility in Thetford. The Electrical Shift Engineer will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and control systems on production and packaging lines to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. Responsibilities include performing planned preventive maintenance, responding to breakdowns, diagnosing electrical faults, and updating maintenance records and documentation. The role involves working closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to minimize downtime, support continuous improvement initiatives, and implement best practices in safety and compliance. The Electrical Shift Engineer will also contribute to root-cause analysis, support equipment upgrades and installations, and participate in shift handovers and technical knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
- Strong electrical maintenance and troubleshooting skills on industrial equipment, including motors, sensors, drives, and control panels.
- Experience with PLCs, automation, and control systems, with the ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Proficiency in planned preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and root-cause analysis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Solid understanding of health, safety, and regulatory requirements in industrial or food manufacturing settings.
- Relevant electrical engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC/HND, or equivalent) and appropriate electrical certification or authorization.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across shifts.
- Organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently under time pressure.
- Previous experience in food, FMCG, or process manufacturing is beneficial; experience with continuous improvement or lean methodologies is an advantage.
