Job Introduction

As a Lived Experience Peer Support Worker in the Autism Outreach Service (AOS) for adults, you’ll join a valued team based at Mid Essex. You will be a Peer Support Worker within HCRG Care Group, receiving exclusive rewards and benefits.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support to autistic service users (adults) on a 1‑to‑1 or group basis, focusing on building relationships and opportunities to learn together.
  • Maintain equality and work alongside others facing similar challenges in their wellbeing, prioritising trustful relationships over clinical interventions.
  • Promote understanding of the principles and practices of the Autism Outreach Lived Experience role (relationships and support).
  • Collaborate with the wider team to co‑produce community offers responsive to service‑user needs and families, ensuring inclusivity.
  • Work flexibly, being prepared to perform other duties consistent with the role, which may involve new operational areas following consultation.
  • Keep accurate, quality, up‑to‑date records using the appropriate computer systems (e.g., SystmOne).

Ideal Candidate

  • Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
  • Own personal lived experience of autism or neurodiversity and a willingness to share your experiences positively.
  • Excellent communication skills with autistic adults.
  • Resilient and adaptable in achieving goals despite obstacles.
  • Strong time‑management and prioritisation skills to manage your own schedule and workload.
  • Ability and commitment to working in an inclusive, team‑focused environment.
  • Based in Mid Essex with the expectation to work and travel across Southend Essex and Thurrock.
