What you’ll do

  • Supporting young people, aged 16-25, who may be facing homelessness, mental health challenges, exploitation or substance abuse, helping them to develop the skills to live independently.
  • Encouraging and empowering young people to achieve their goals, whether it’s finding stable housing, securing employment or building confidence.
  • Helping with day-to-day tasks such as budgeting, maintaining their tenancy and moving onto independent accommodation.
  • Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
  • Cuppas, chats and catch ups. Working alongside a supportive team you will take the time to build real connections with young people and guide them through life’s challenges.

  • You have a passion for supporting young people to grow, develop and succeed.
  • Experience in care, youth work, or a similar setting, or a personal understanding of the challenges young people face.
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, remain calm under pressure and have a resilient approach.

Qualifications

  • Due to our service being regulated by Ofsted you must have experience supporting young people.
  • You’ll work a four-week rolling rota, a mixture of weekdays and weekends.
  • Where we’re flexible with you, we do need to meet the needs of our customers. That may mean adapting your start or finishing times on occasion.
  • Able to use technology to update support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues.
  • You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay the fee.

Pay & Benefits

Earn £13.45 per hour (£26,300 per annum) plus great benefits including Health Cash Plan! Permanent, Full time (37.5 hpw) Tyneside Foyer, Newcastle upon Tyne. We can’t offer a CoS for this role.

  • 34 days leave (including bank holidays and a “me day” to use for whatever you fancy) increasing to 39, and time off for volunteering too!
  • Health cash plan – saving you from £1,140 per annum. We’ll cover your costs (and kids if you have them) towards dental, optical, prescriptions, alternative therapies and lots more.
