Are you an experienced Rolling Stock Engineer with ETCS/ERTMS expertise looking to play a key role in one of the UK’s most significant rail transformation programmes?

GTR is seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery and integration of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) across our fleet. Working alongside the Senior Project Engineer ETCS, you’ll be at the forefront of introducing cutting-edge technology that will transform the future of rail operations.

This is a unique opportunity to influence the successful implementation of ETCS onboard systems, ensuring new technology is safely integrated into operational service and engineering maintenance activities.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the introduction of ETCS/ERTMS technology into GTR fleets
  • Developing maintenance strategies and technical documentation for new onboard systems
  • Leading engineering change and fleet integration activities
  • Supporting software configuration and system implementation
  • Ensuring compliance with railway standards, legislation and engineering best practice
  • Developing robust maintenance regimes that maximise safety, reliability and performance
  • Working closely with project, fleet and engineering teams to deliver a critical industry programme

What We’re Looking For

Chartered Engineer or actively working towards professional registration

Minimum 5 years’ experience within rolling stock engineering and project delivery

Experience working with ETCS/ERTMS onboard systems

Strong understanding of rolling stock maintenance, engineering change and systems integration

Knowledge of railway standards, legislation and safety requirements

Excellent technical, analytical and stakeholder management skills
