The Catering team as a whole is responsible for maintaining high standards throughout the Estate. Woodlands Coffee Shop was established in 2023 for our Team QE Community – staff, students & visitors. Here, people can take a break from their busy day and re‑energise, catch up with friends or colleagues in the modern, relaxing environment or just grab a takeaway coffee while on the move. The role of the Woodlands Coffee Shop Team Member is to support the Woodlands Team Leader in the operation of the Woodlands Coffee Shop, serving a range of hot & cold drinks and a selection of hot & cold snacks and light meals.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Woodlands Team Leader in the operation of the Woodlands Coffee Shop, providing a warm, welcoming, exciting and efficient service for our customers on a daily basis to the highest possible standards.
  • Embrace the Team QE ethos and contribute towards maintaining a positive workplace culture.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and create a welcoming environment for our customers.
  • Utilise existing barista skills to ensure a high‑quality standard of drinks service is provided.
  • Be capable of multi‑tasking and have strong teamwork skills.
  • Operate the electronic point‑of‑sale system for taking orders and payments.
  • Have an aptitude to engage with customers and build a rapport.
  • Prepare and serve a variety of hot & cold, savoury & sweet food items.
  • Clear tables and operate the dishwasher to ensure service is as efficient as possible.
  • Demonstrate a “can do” attitude and use own initiative and resourcefulness.
  • Be proactive in ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of the Coffee Shop at all times.
  • Demonstrate excellent standards with regard to time‑keeping, presentation, hard work, attitude, motivation and commitment.
  • Support the Woodlands Team Leader in continually reviewing and developing the provision by suggesting exciting new ideas and on‑trend lines to maximise sales opportunities and to enhance the service available to visitors, staff and students.
  • Promote a friendly working relationship with all colleagues.
  • Ensure that all COSHH requirements are adhered to.
  • Adhere to all Food Safety, Allergen and Health and Safety Guidelines.
  • Attend all training as and when required.
  • Assist in other areas of the Catering Department as and when required.
  • Inform the Catering Manager of any important activities on site of relevance to the catering department.
  • Carry out any other duties requested by the Catering Senior Team.
