Wintel Engineer/Consultant

Your future duties and responsibilities In this role, you will deliver and transition Wintel infrastructure solutions into CGI and third-party data centre environments, ensuring successful project outcomes for clients across a range of sectors. You will work on complex infrastructure changes and implementations, supporting large-scale enterprise environments while maintaining high standards of operational stability, documentation, and service quality. You’ll collaborate closely with customers, suppliers, and internal delivery teams to ensure infrastructure services are delivered efficiently, securely, and in line with agreed requirements.
You will also play an important role in driving continuous improvement across technical services, contributing ideas that enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. Alongside hands-on technical delivery, you’ll support and mentor colleagues, share knowledge across teams, and help create a collaborative environment where innovation and professional development are encouraged.
Key responsibilitiesDeliver & Implement enterprise Wintel infrastructure solutions and technical project workLead & Support infrastructure changes following operational and security best practicesDevelop & Maintain Low Level Designs, technical documentation, and disaster recovery plansAutomate & Optimise operational processes using PowerShell and other toolingCollaborate & Communicate with customers, suppliers, and internal delivery teamsMentor & Support colleagues through technical leadership and knowledge sharingContribute & Improve Continuous Service Improvement initiatives and operational efficienciesPlan & Coordinate project activities, workflow management, and cost estimationsSupport & Maintain backup administration, patching, OS installations, and out-of-hours changes where required
Required qualifications to be successful in this role To succeed in this role, you should have strong experience delivering Wintel infrastructure solutions within complex enterprise environments, alongside excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills. You’ll bring a proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and support successful project delivery in secure, business-critical environments.
Essential qualificationsStrong hands-on experience with VMware and Hyper-V virtualisation technologiesProven experience working with Windows Server Operating Systems from 2008 onwardsStrong PowerShell scripting and automation capabilitiesDemonstrable experience delivering enterprise infrastructure implementations and project workStrong understanding of infrastructure documentation, operational support, and best practicesAbility to support technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer activitiesExcellent stakeholder communication and customer engagement skillsMinimum current SC Clearance eligibility or active SC ClearanceNPPv3 clearance eligibility or active NPPv3 ClearanceDesirable qualificationsExperience with Microsoft Azure cloud technologiesKnowledge of Azure Local solutionsFamiliarity with automation tooling such as AnsibleAZ800 & AZ801 Certification
