The Network Planning division is seeking to appoint someone who is enthusiastic, an excellent team player and has technical ability as well as an eye for detail, to work within their Street Works and Temporary Traffic Management Team.

As a Technician, you will be working alongside other technical experts to co‑ordinate various activities in the highway.

Responsibilities

  • Operate temporary traffic management, road closures, temporary traffic signals, and approvals of abnormal load movements to ensure a safe and reliable network for all users.
  • Assess and review proposed works within the highway, ensuring methods used are suitable, safe, and cause the least disruption to the network.
  • Work closely with other senior technicians and technicians to ensure permit conditions are adhered to and resolve potential conflict on the highway.
  • Operate the newly formed Highways Network Information Centre; monitor Pre‑emptive Traffic Management Systems, make key decisions, and utilise IT and messaging facilities to reduce disruption and congestion during unplanned incidents.
  • Liaise and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to develop key relationships.
