Business Solutions Architect (Consultant)

As a Business Solutions Architect at Actica, you will support a wide range of high‑profile UK public sector and defence organisations, helping them maximise the benefit from their technology investments and play a key role in nationally critical projects. You will use your architecture skills across consulting projects and clients to provide high‑value strategy, business analysis, technology and procurement consultancy, ensuring solutions align with business strategy and aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide architecture services in complex transformation programmes to enable alignment and drive coherent delivery based on value streams.
  • Develop baseline and transition architectures to support the client’s strategic and/or implementation planning of ICT services within a business change programme.
  • Develop architecture views to describe all aspects of a client’s organisation, including its business, applications and data architecture.
  • Develop and assure high‑level solution designs.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise (essential)

  • Experience in using enterprise or business architecture frameworks and practices such as TOGAF to enable a large, complex business to plan, deliver and govern change.
  • Experience producing architecture documentation, such as options assessments, suitable to engage business stakeholders in both informal and formal governance settings.
  • Flexible, consulting mindset with the ability to think quickly, take initiative and apply a structured approach to unfamiliar subject matter.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills.

Desirable attributes and experience

  • Experience in the public sector, defence or financial services, preferably within the ICT context on enterprise solutions.
  • Consulting experience in the public sector or defence.
  • Architectural expertise in one or more of business, solutions or service architecture domains.

Security ClearanceAll candidates must be eligible and willing to gain high‑level UK Security Clearance.

Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid working model with an office base in Guildford, Surrey and access to other offices in London, Swindon and Cheltenham.
  • Typical working week may involve 2‑3 days at client premises or other locations and the remainder at home or at an office.
  • Some projects may require up to 5 days per week on‑site.
  • Practicalities of some project work may require absence from home during the working week.
  • Team‑based project environment with opportunities to participate in internal initiatives.
