Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self‑motivated Band 5 Podiatrist to join our team in the tri‑borough area of Central London, providing a 12‑month fixed‑term maternity leave cover. The role offers valuable experience within a diverse, supportive community‑focused service where you will be encouraged to grow and develop your clinical skills.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high‑quality care to a diverse range of podiatry patients in a wide variety of settings, assessing, diagnosing, treating, planning and managing the podiatric (lower limb and foot) needs of the local and transient populations to maintain patient mobility and independence.
  • Work in collaboration with a team of podiatrists and other care providers to ensure seamless care delivery for all patients, liaising with and referring to Band 6 where appropriate.
  • Undertake appropriate clinical rotations, supported by supervision and mentoring sessions.
  • With the manager identify knowledge and skills and be encouraged to work towards the skills and knowledge level of a Specialist Podiatrist.

Person specification

Education / Qualification

  • BSc Degree in Podiatric Medicine or Diploma (if qualified prior 1991).
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council.
  • Certificate in local anaesthesia.
  • POM certificate.

Experience

  • Multidisciplinary and interagency working.
  • Working with a wide range of patient and disease / pathology types including at‑risk and high‑risk foot.
  • Clinical supervision / mentoring.
  • Service development.

Other

  • Effective oral, listening and written communication to negotiate and persuade patients and carers, securing compliance and commitment to treatment and care plans.
  • IT skills including use of Internet, e‑mail and Word processing.
