Role Overview

In this rewarding role within the SENAR Service you will lead statutory processes related to Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments, acting as the named officer for a caseload of children and young people. Drawing on your knowledge of SEND you will ensure that parent carers, children, young people and professionals are provided with clear and accessible information to support informed decision‐making at each stage, whether to proceed with an assessment and, where appropriate, whether to issue an EHC Plan.

Using your expertise in interpreting professional advice and report writing you will produce high‑quality EHC Plans that accurately reflect individual needs and clearly set out the provision required to help children and young people achieve their ambitions and outcomes.

With strong communication skills and a person‑centred approach you will keep the child or young person at the heart of all decisions, build shared understanding of processes and outcomes, and maintain compliance with statutory requirements and local procedures within required timescales.

Responsibilities

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience and knowledge of SEND and statutory procedures for EHC assessments are preferred. Applicants must be able to produce clear, evidence‑based plans and communicate effectively. Proof of right to work in the UK is required. The role is offered through Birmingham City Council, an accredited Disability Confident Leader employer.
