Category Manager – Professional Services
Salary: £75,000 + up to 10% bonus
Location: London (2 days per week)

The Organisation
My client is a large, globally recognised charitable organisation with a strong commercial mindset and significant long-term investment plans. The organisation funds research, influences policy and builds partnerships to improve health outcomes worldwide.
They are currently transforming their procurement function, moving to a centralised, category-led operating model. This role is a key hire within that change programme.
The Role
The Category Manager – Professional Services will partner with senior internal teams responsible for delivering the organisation’s mission. This is a strategic role, responsible for embedding category management for the first time across a complex and high-impact spend area.
The portfolio is predominantly scientific and professional services, including externally commissioned research and specialist advisory services that inform major investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver end-to-end category strategies for professional and scientific services
- Lead complex sourcing activity from strategy through to contract award and mobilisation
- Act as a trusted commercial partner to senior budget holders
- Manage supplier relationships, performance, risk and value delivery
- Embed best-practice procurement governance and processes
- Support the transition to a centralised procurement model
- Line-manage and develop Procurement Officers within the team
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience delivering category management end to end, including senior stakeholder engagement
- Strong commercial capability across contract development and negotiation
- Comfortable operating in change environments with shifting priorities
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills
- Background in private-sector or commercially focused procurement
- Line-management experience or readiness to step into people leadership
