8A Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist – part time

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a part‑time Psychologist, working 3 days per week (22.5 hours) within the Mole Valley Community Mental Health Recovery Service (CMHRS). HCPC registration is required. This role covers the SABP work locations in Mole Valley.

The post holder will work within the framework of the three Adult Community Service functions: Brief Interventions for Significant Needs, Complex Needs, SMI and Recovery and Later Life Frailty and Dementia. The role will primarily sit within the Complex Needs, SMI and Recovery pathway, offering psychological assessment and interventions to adults experiencing complex, severe and enduring mental health problems. The post holder will also contribute across the Integrated Neighbourhood Team, supporting collaborative and flexible working where required.

Subject to reasonable adjustments in respect of any disability, candidates must possess a valid driving licence and be able to drive and have the unrestricted use of a car or motorcycle for work at all times including community based work.

Main duties of the job

  • Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of clinical work and maintain high standards of care in all areas of practice in accordance with the HCPC Code of Conduct, professional guidelines and Trust Policies and Procedures. Act within the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act (2005) and implement Safeguarding Adult and Child Protection Policies and legislation.
  • Carry out comprehensive psychological and cognitive assessments and formulation, plan, implement and evaluate delivery of psychology interventions and consultations to support people with specific and complex needs.
  • Actively involve people in developing and agreeing their own care plan, act as an advocate and ensure proper regard for their dignity, choice, self‑esteem, racial, cultural, sexual and religious needs and preferences.
  • Work creatively to adapt verbal and written communication to meet the needs of people who use our services.
  • Undertake comprehensive risk assessments and develop effective risk management plans for people with complex needs.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology or equivalent.
  • Must be HCPC registered psychologist.

Experience

  • Experience across a range of psychological models including systemic, behavioural and individual therapeutic.
  • Experience of working with people from across the life span with a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles.
  • Experience of supervising assistant and trainee clinical psychologists.
  • Demonstrable post‑registration/clinical experience and competency relevant to this care group.

Salary

£59,798 to £67,020 a year (incl. 5% Fringe HCAS) per annum, pro rata.
