Activity Coordinator – Part Time 20hrs

Cygnet Hospital Colchester is a 59‑bed service providing a range of intensive support and rehabilitation services for men with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders or mental health needs.

Role

Activity/Therapy Coordinator – part time, 20 hours per week, primarily evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and facilitate therapeutic and meaningful activities for patients, with a focus on out‑of‑hours engagement.
• Encourage patients to access and participate in a variety of activities, including existing hobbies.
• Work with the Occupational Therapist to plan and implement therapy programmes and secure appropriate materials.
• Contribute ideas, facilitate events and activities safely.
• Support relational security, emotional regulation and recovery to reduce distress, boredom and escalation.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience and/or a passion for working in healthcare with learning disabilities.
• Knowledge of Occupational Therapy.
• Creative flair and ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• An awareness of recovery approaches and social inclusion (desirable).
