Devops Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a leading organisation delivering critical services within the UK Intelligence and National Security sector.

Applicants must have active UKIC Security clearance.

You will support high-profile, mission-critical programmes, playing a key role in building and maintaining secure, scalable infrastructure and deployment pipelines within highly regulated environments.

The Role

This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on enabling secure and efficient software delivery. You will work across cloud and on‑premise environments, driving automation and embedding DevOps best practices across the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Support cloud and on‑prem environments (AWS, Azure, or private cloud)
• Collaborate with development teams to streamline deployment processes
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
• Ensure security is embedded across all stages of the DevOps lifecycle
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and deployment issues
• Continuously improve DevOps tooling, processes and engineering standards
• Operate within strict security and governance framework

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE role
• Strong experience with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)
• Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar)
• Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
• Strong understanding of systems, networking, and security
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, ELK, Grafana)
