Milk Education is recruiting for a highly respected mainstream primary in the St Helens area. The setting (SEN Base) supports pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASD), communication difficulties, sensory processing differences, and physical or medical requirements. The environment is structured, nurturing, and supported by a strong multidisciplinary team who tailor learning and care to each child.
We’re looking for a committed, resilient SEN Teaching Assistant who’s comfortable in a hands‑on, fast‑moving environment. This role is offered on a day‑to‑day, term‑time basis, with the potential to become long‑term or permanent for the right person.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with complex SEN
- Using visual communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables
- Supporting sensory regulation through structured breaks and personalised sensory tools
- Assisting with personal care, mobility, or medical routines when required
- Delivering adapted learning in communication, social skills, literacy, numeracy, and life skills
- Using positive behaviour support strategies to help pupils manage anxiety and transitions
- Working closely with teachers and therapists to follow structured programmes
- Maintaining strong safeguarding practice and professionalism at all times
